The design of the new Bowen Island Community Centre has been completed in collaboration with Principle Architecture.
The project will house a complex program including recreation spaces, arts and performance venues, municipal offices and a community “living room” for informal gathering.
The building will be located on a prominent rise just west of the Snug Cove village and adjacent to the community school.
The design draws on the history and unique building traditions of Bowen Island and the surrounding coast. The building forms are at once both recognizably traditional and simply contemporary. The intention is to foster community activities and maintain a close relationship with the surrounding landscape.
